Two NFA isomers with contrary chlorine and methyl substitutions on their CPTCN end groups, namely ThMeCl-1 and ThMeCl-2, were synthesized and employed as the third component to fabricate ternary OSCs. We found although the isomeric structure enabled similar energy levels and optical properties in their neat film and identical VOC in their PM6 based binary OSCs, different energy losses were received in their ternary OSCs using PM6:C5-16 and PM6:C9-16 as the host systems, leading to distinct VOC gain and photovoltaic performance.
