Super-hydrophobic and Self-cleaning Surfaces

      Inspired by natural surfaces from lotus leaf and butterfly wings, artificial coatings with self-cleaning ability and super-hydrophobic property have been achieved and show applications in various fields such as biomedical and environmental protection. We are adopting some special thin film deposition methods using our designed colloidal nanoparticles to create hierarchical structures for the fabrication of super-hydrophobic and self-cleaning surfaces on different substrates (as demonstrated below).
